We review all user requests, prioritize the ones we will work on and release enhancements with our annual major release in September as well as service packs throughout the year. The SOLIDWORKS 2020 release delivers improved performance, streamlined workflows and support for a connected design ecosystem in the cloud. Our Design-to-Manufacturing solution, a suite of seamlessly integrated software tools, enable you to go from concept to manufactured product faster, all in the native SOLIDWORKS environment. Improved Performance

Speed up the design of large assemblies and design validation with performance improvements in drawings, assemblies and simulation. Open large drawings instantly with the new Detailing mode while still being able to add and edit drawing annotations. Improve your design speed with the new Envelope Publisher by including components from a top-level assembly as envelopes in a subassembly. Run your simulations faster with a hybrid mesh that contains both draft and high-quality elements.

What's New in SOLIDWORKS SIMULATION 2020 - SIMULATION Evaluator.

SOLIDWORKS SIMULATION 2020 adds a new tool called SIMULATION Evaluator that provides users a single location to verify and update or re-attach simulation results, check simulation study setup, verify materials and mesh. This single location provides feedback needed to move forward with confidence. Additionally, several User Interface enhancements in SOLIDWORKS SIMULATION 2020 make it easier to navigate the study setup, letting you get your study ready quickly. Also new, studies that are no longer needed or corrupt can be deleted without loading, saving significant time on large, non-linear or dynamic studies.

What's New in SOLIDWORKS Manage 2020 - Project Management Enhancements

Project Management with SOLIDWORKS Manage enables you to tightly integrate with project resources and deliverables. With the 2020 release, you can import projects as XML from tools like Microsoft Project. You can now visualize your project in popular formats like Load Charts, PERT Charts and Network Diagrams. The new Capacity Planning tool automatically calculates available time from your resources as well as the demand from your projects.

What's New in SOLIDWORKS Manage 2020 - Task Templates

Task creation and delegation is easier than ever with SOLIDWORKS Manage 2020. You can now create task templates to predefine the subject, priority, time allocated, assignee, task details and notes of your repeatable activities. Use task templates to quickly create and assign your next task.

What's New in SOLIDWORKS Manage 2020 - Process Management Enhancements.

Related files like contains and where used can easily be added to a process in SOLIDWORKS Manage. With SOLIDWORKS Manage 2020, the related records can be added at once even if they are stored in different objects like libraries, bill of materials, PDM, and more. Special objects like risks, project issues and product requirements can also be added to a process so that their disposition can be automated. SOLIDWORKS Manage 2020 introduces child processes so that selected records can follow a unique path through the same process. The parent-child relationship is captures so you can easily find the related processes.

What's New in SOLIDWORKS Manage 2020 - Outlook and PDM Integration

Aggregating data and information from a variety of sources is made easy with SOLIDWORKS Manage 2020 by introducing integration with Microsoft Outlook and expanded integration with SOLIDWORKS PDM. Emails can now be saved directly in SOLIDWORKS Manage so that they can be referenced in the future without searching. When working in SOLIDWORKS PDM, emails and all the other information captured in SOLIDWORKS Manage are now accessible in the Manage tab in your File Explorer Vault View.

What's New in SOLIDWORKS Manage 2020 - Dashboard Viewer and Plenary Web Client

Keep yourself and your team up to date with constantly changing information by using SOLIDWORKS Manage 2020. The new dedicated Dashboard Viewer can run on community monitors to display relevant information so that everyone is current with your company activities and performance. The Plenary Web Client with SOLIDWORKS Manage 2020 now has the Home and Projects modules in addition to expanded capabilities with SOLIDWORKS PDM so you can do more work remotely or on the go using your internet browser.

What's New in SOLIDWORKS SIMULATION 2020 - Distributed Coupling

Distributed Coupling in SOLIDWORKS SIMULATION. Bolt and pin connectors are widely used in design. Analysis of components that are connected with this method now have a new option in SOLIDWORKS SIMULATION 2020. Leveraging technology from SIMULIA, the load distribution between components through these connector types can be calculated using a more refined, distributed coupling option. This option provides more accurate stress distribution through the connector, eliminating stress concentrations at bolt and nut heads. Ultimately, more accurate stress results can be obtained in the simulation. Additionally SOLIDWORKS SIMULATION 2020 now supports mixing both draft and high quality elements in a single mesh. This can dramatically improve the speed of simulation studies and provide accurate results where desired.

What's New in SOLIDWORKS Electrical 2020 - Mass Properties

New in SOLIDWORKS 2020, include mass properties for wires, cables, coverings, and partial coverings. The linear mass can be defined either through SOLIDWORKS Electrical or SOLIDWORKS Routing. SOLIDWORKS 2020 makes it easy to see how wires and cables will affect the center of mass and moment of inertia of an assembly.

What's New in SOLIDWORKS 2020 - Envelope Publisher

New in SOLIDWORKS 2020, Envelope Publisher makes top-down design simple. Envelopes, a tool for making reference components, are no longer limited to components within the same assembly. Now, components can be selected from other subassemblies and included as envelopes in the destination assembly. Work collaboratively in large assemblies with the new Envelope Publisher.

What's New in SOLIDWORKS 2020 - Assembly Patterns

Assembly patterns provide an efficient way to add multiple copies of components to your SOLIDWORKS Assemblies. New in SOLIDWORKS 2020, Pattern Driven Component Patterns are more intelligent, Linear and Circular Patterns are more versatile and Mirror Components are more robust.

What's New in SOLIDWORKS Plastics 2020 - Geometry Based Conditions

SOLIDWORKS Plastics 2020 streamlines and simplifies the process in setting up you plastic injection mold simulations by allowing you to reference the 3D geometry without the need for meshing. This saves time and provides dynamic updates as the 3D models change.

What's New in SOLIDWORKS 2020 - 3D Interconnect

3D Interconnect allows you to reference neutral and native cad files directly from other CAD applications. SOLIDWORKS 2020 introduces a streamlined workflow enabling you to simply drag and drop those neutral and native files from Windows Explorer into your SOLIDWORKS Assemblies like any other SOLIDWORKS Component.

What's New in SOLIDWORKS PDM 2020 – Performance

The increased performance of SOLIDWORKS PDM 2020 makes your day-to-day use faster than ever before. You no longer have to wait for file contents and their details to load to browse to a subfolder. PDM tabs load data in the background as well. Overall system efficiency is improved. This includes the PDM Add-In for SOLIDWORKS CAD.

What's New in SOLIDWORKS PDM 2020 – Workflows

SOLIDWORKS PDM 2020 introduces Child Reference State Conditions for Workflows. For example, you can prevent documents from being approved that use files that are obsolete or going under a change. This helps automate your processes to ensure the correct data gets released.

What's New in SOLIDWORKS PDM 2020 – Search

SOLIDWORKS PDM 2020 introduces Quick Search to make it fast and easy to find your files. Use Control+F on your keyboard and start typing. Suggested searches are provided based on your history and what you have started to type in the search field. Quick Search and fields in traditional search cards now support multiple variables to help simplify your search experience.

What's New in SOLIDWORKS 2020 - Surface Offset

A common technique for advanced surfacing modeling is using the Surface Offset command. Prior to SOLIDWORKS 2020, if the surfaces selected for offset could not be offset the desired amount, the feature would fail and no geometry would be created. In SOLIDWORKS 2020, the command gives users the option to SEE and REMOVE any surfaces that cannot be offset, building the remaining geometry.

SOLIDWORKS Composer 2020 can now import all the exploded views and their steps from the SOLIDWORKS CAD model. These views can be reused for a variety of purposes including animations. Animations can now be saved as MKV, MP4 and FLV in addition to AVI. Lastly, A series of raster and vector images can be rapidly published using the new 360 degree capture.

What's New in SOLIDWORKS 2020 - Flexible Components

Make any part dynamic with the new Make Part Flexible tool in SOLIDWORKS 2020. Remap external references of parts with ease without creating additional configurations or part files. This optimizes your data management and efficiency visualizing and validating assemblies with motion. Bill of Materials recognize the multiple instances of Flexible Parts as a common part. Drawing references are also maintained without impacting the geometry shown in the drawing.
