Marking Up and Red Lining with Social Distancing While Working From Home

As we’ve written before, Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS is committed to helping our customers be the most productive while working from home during this time of social distancing.

Right now, it’s not possible to grab a drawing from the plotter or printer, mark it up, and drop it off on your coworker’s desk. This situation requires that many of us change our workflows! As a result, I want to reshare the Markup functionality that exists in both the SOLIDWORKS and eDrawings applications. This functionality is greatly improved in SOLIDWORKS 2020.

New for 2020, touch capable devices are NO LONGER REQUIRED! You can mark up your parts, drawings, or assemblies by using a keyboard and mouse.

The Markup feature isn’t new. There have been several iterations, and with YOUR feedback, we’ve improved the tool to meet your needs.

Markup content is available across multiple programs too! You can add Markup notes inside SOLIDWORKS or inside eDrawings, and all members of the project team can see the design notes.

If you are using SOLIDWORKS PDM, the Markup functions can be integrated into your workflow. One of our SOLIDWORKS Value Added Resellers produced an excellent video here, which showcases a typical workflow.

For more information about this very useful feature, please visit the SOLIDWORKS Markups Help.

Stay safe and productive everyone!
