SOLIDWORKS Tech Tip: UI Customisation

Knowing where things are just makes the day go by a little smoother – ever been running late and had to hunt down your car keys? Wouldn’t it be nice if they were always hanging by the door? Like any of your daily routines, getting your User Interface just right is a huge deal.  Another great advantage to customising your user interface is giving yourself a quick reminder to use tools that might only be found in a pull-down or flyout menu – out of sight, out of mind, right?

SOLIDWORKS Tech Tip: UI Customization

Two incredible time-saving sketch tools I often found myself overlooking were Dynamic Mirror and Fully Define Sketch. While Fully Define Sketch is technically included on the Sketch Tab of the Command Manager, it’s under Display/Delete Relations, so I chose to bring it up a level. Dynamic Mirror is a different story. This powerful sketch tool can only be found in the Tools>Sketch Tools pull-down menu so it’s easily overlooked or forgotten. I decided to put both tools front and center on the Sketch Tab of my Command Manager, and it helped! Next time you see a command you can’t wait to try out, be sure it’s somewhere you can’t miss it! This will make it easier to corporate it into your daily SOLIDWORKS routine and help you keep improving!
