Excluding library parts when using SOLIDWORKS Pack and Go

SOLIDWORKS Pack and Go gathers all related files for a model design (parts, assemblies, drawings, references, design tables, Design Binder content, decals, appearances, and scenes, and SOLIDWORKS Simulation results) into a folder or zip file. There may however be times when you want to exclude items from your Pack and Go, such as files that are included in the SOLIDWORKS Design Library.

This video will guide you through the workflow to exclude Library Parts, however similar workflow could be used to exclude other information.

Accessing Pack and Go

  • In SOLIDWORKS, click File > Pack and Go.
  • In Windows Explorer or SOLIDWORKS Task Pane File Explorer, right-click a SOLIDWORKS document and select SOLIDWORKS > Pack and Gomenu_Pack_and_Go.gif.
  • In SOLIDWORKS Explorer, select a SOLIDWORKS document and choose SOLIDWORKS Pack and Go .

Files that are embedded (Design Journal, for example) are part of the document and are included without being listed in the Pack and Go dialog box.

When you open Pack and Go from an Explorer, the document and its references are listed. When you open it from within the SOLIDWORKS application, the following types of files are also included:

  • Drawings in user-specified folders
  • Parent parts of derived and mirrored parts
  • Linked documents in the Design Binder folder
  • Linked design table documents
  • Custom and default decals, appearances, and scenes
  • SOLIDWORKS Simulation results documents

In the Pack and Go dialog box, choose to save to a folder or zip file.

  • If a specified folder does not exist, it is created.
  • If you choose to email a zip file, an email message with the zip file attached is opened for you to address and send.
