{"id":3965,"date":"2016-01-07T11:15:49","date_gmt":"2016-01-07T11:15:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.solidapps.co.uk\/blog\/?p=3965"},"modified":"2016-01-07T11:15:49","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T11:15:49","slug":"whats-new-in-solidworks-2016-dimxperts-basic-dimensions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.solidapps.co.uk\/blog\/2016\/01\/whats-new-in-solidworks-2016-dimxperts-basic-dimensions\/","title":{"rendered":"What\u2019s New in SOLIDWORKS 2016: DimXpert\u2019s Basic Dimensions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DimXpert has always given you\u00a0the ability to add\u00a0basic dimensions to your model\u2019s\u00a0PMI scheme. \u00a0However, this ability was directly tied to GD&amp;T feature control frames created with DimXpert. \u00a0The setting that allows you to add basic dimensions for your feature control frames is called \u201cCreate basic dimensions\u201d found at <em>Tools&gt;Options&gt;Document Properties&gt;Drafting\u00a0Standard&gt;DimXpert<\/em> (SOLIDWORKS 2016) or <em>Tools&gt;Options&gt;Document Properties&gt;DimXpert<\/em> (SOLIDWORKS 2015 and prior).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-9783 size-medium colorbox-9782\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.solidworks.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/11-3-2015-1-38-04-PM-300x247.png\" alt=\"DimXpert Basic Dimension setting\" width=\"300\" height=\"247\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With this option checked, applicable basic dimensions are automatically generated when you create applicable feature control frames, such as profile and positional GD&amp;T.<\/p>\n<p>Even with this setting, many customers expressed the need to create their own basic dimensions, sometimes not directly associated with a feature control frame.
