It is the type of pressure distribution that corresponds to the actual pressure caused by a liquid on an immersed object or on the walls on a tank.

The possibility to define such pressures was given to SOLIDWORKS Simulations users many years ago. To accommodate for more use cases, the PropertyManager for the definition of nonuniform pressure and force has been updated in version 2015 to include more capabilities, such as more types of distribution of the load with respect to more types of coordinate systems. You can now control the variation of the pressure or force using a user-defined expression, and it can be defines in the frame of cylindrical and spherical coordinate systems in addition to cartesian.

As a consequence of this change, users need to adopt new practices do define hydrostatic pressures in SOLIDWORKS Simulation 2015 and up.

Recommended procedure to define an hydrostatic pressure:

When defining hydrostatic pressure, the pressure direction should be Normal to selected faces.

The location and orientation of the Coordinate system used to define the variable pressure is important.
