Edit Referenced File Locations Dialog Box<\/h2>\n

When opening a part, assembly, or drawing document, you can edit the locations and names of referenced files, to reference different files.<\/p>\n

\n

To edit the locations and names of referenced files:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    \n
  1. Click Open<\/span> \"\" <\/strong>or File<\/span> <\/strong>> Open<\/span><\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n
  2. In the Open<\/span> dialog box, click References<\/span>.<\/strong>\n
      \n
    1. The Edit Referenced File Locations<\/span> dialog box appears.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    2. Edit the path or filename using one of the following methods:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
        \n
      • Click in a cell and type to change the name or path. <\/span><\/li>\n
      • Double-click in a cell, browse to a new folder or type a new name in the Open<\/span> dialog box, then click Open<\/span>. <\/span><\/li>\n
      • Select cells under In Folder<\/span>, or select the entire column by clicking In Folder<\/span>. Click Replace<\/span> and enter a word to find and a word to replace it with.<\/span><\/span>For example, change “\\samples<\/span><\/kbd>” to “\\archive<\/span><\/kbd>” to open one or all part files from the archive directory. Click the Match case<\/span> check box if the case is significant in the search.<\/li>\n
      • In cells where you make changes, the text becomes green. To undo changes, right-click the cell and select Undo Change<\/span>.<\/li>\n
      • Click OK<\/span> to make the changes and exit the dialog.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Edit Referenced Files in SOLIDWORKS Explorer<\/h2>\n

        1. Select the document in the File Explorer<\/span> \"\" tab in the left pane.<\/li>\n
        2. Select the References<\/span> \"\" tab in right pane.\n
            \n
          1. Information about referenced documents appears in the following columns:\n
              \n
            1. Document. Lists the document names.<\/li>\n
            2. Full path<\/li>\n
            3. Size<\/li>\n
            4. Reference type. Lists the type of reference (for example, in-context reference or model reference).<\/li>\n
            5. Type. Lists the type of document (for example, SolidWorks Part Document).<\/li>\n
            6. Date Modified<\/li>\n
            7. Attributes (as reported by Windows Explorer)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
